Who is Malik K. Murray?

Malik K. Murray is a father, author, athlete, chaplain, and all around family man who believes that God & Family should be at the center of it all! Raised by Geraldine Vivian and William Murray Jr. in the Logan section of Philly, Malik developed a deep appreciation and eclectic taste in music, art, and literature. His parents introduced him to jazz standards, classical music, soulful R&B, local visual artists, poets, and the distinctive creative works of Gordan Parks. Hooking him on great artists like Sade, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Minnie Ripperton and many more at a very young age.

As Malik developed his own creative texture within the arts by writing, singing, and storytelling community, he used his creativity and imagination as an escape. Fortunately, he had very supportive and engaging parents who instilled work ethic, discipline, self-love, and never to accept mediocrity in life. A quality that lends itself well into his adulthood today. Always aiming higher to achieve greater accomplishments which began in high school.

Freshman year he journeyed into journaling, creative writing, singing and dancing. Getting hooked on sports and creative arts kept him out of trouble. Writing frequently, entering writing competitions, and embracing his voice gave him purpose. Understanding the power of words and the impact it has on the heart, brain, and soul taught him to be responsible and accountable for his writings. A teenager filled with discipline, passion, and untapped potential but questioning everything around him.

Writing and journaling introduced a concept that he’s been chasing from a very young age, protecting your inner peace. He contributes finding solace and comfort in writing which helps with his transition into manhood.

Upon leaving his family and friends behind for a career in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles in 2006. Malik landed an internship at a production company located on the Paramount Studios lot. The internship led to a position in the mailroom at the arguably the top talent and sports agency’s in the world.

As Malik got promoted, he began working directly with billion-dollar box office producers, directors, academy award winning actors, and many New York Times bestselling authors. As the saying goes, “Malik was living the dream”. Quickly ascending and establishing himself as a young mover and shaker in the Hollywood industry, something changed internally. His desire to schmooze and talk shop around town slowly diminished.

His drive, passion, and focus shifted. God nudged him to go deeper spiritually and learn how to add more value the lives of his clients. Having an astute discernment, Malik slowly noticed a deep sadness and emptiness in clients, colleagues, and studio executives in his daily interactions.

So where there was a need, he discreetly provided emotional support, daily encouragement, and uplift to those in his sphere of influence. Deeply impacting the lives of well respected studio executives, athletes, actors, writers, musicians, and producers. Offering spiritual guidance, inspirational words, and timely uplift. These relationships with clients, was initially strictly professional until it organically evolved into his personal ministry, behind the scenes.

Identifying the personal challenges like imposter syndrome, self-doubt, self-sabotage, rejection, fear, and low self-worth.

Who knew that his passion for the entertainment industry would take him 2000 miles away from Philly only find his calling which is to serve. God knew!

Today, Malik is curating safe spaces for people to heal & grow. Especially when it comes to fatherhood. He encourages Millennials and Gen Z’s to remain courageous as they step into this new territory of fatherhood and parenting.
